My (Social) Data Space — child safety standards
Last updated: 3 October 2026
These are the standards of the Android app My (Social) Data Space, published on Google Play by Zero Trust Software, against child sexual abuse and exploitation (CSAE). They apply to everything the app lets people publish, send or receive.
1. Zero tolerance
We prohibit, without exception:
- child sexual abuse material (CSAM) of any kind, including drawn, animated or computer-generated depictions;
- any sexualised depiction of, or sexual content involving, a person under 18;
- grooming: contacting or befriending a minor in order to sexualise the contact, and any attempt to arrange sexual contact with a minor;
- sextortion, and requesting, offering, trading or advertising any of the above;
- any content that shows a person who has not agreed to appear.
The in-app rules every person accepts before publishing say the same thing in plain words: no sexual content or nudity in public topics or shared messages, nothing illegal where you are, nothing that targets somebody. The app is not directed to children and is listed for adults (18+).
2. How the app is built, and what that means for safety
The app keeps what a person records on their own device. There is no account on a server operated by us and we do not host or pre-screen content. Things leave a phone only when the person shares them — directly to a phone nearby over the local network, or to a topic through a community service that the person connected themselves and that is run by somebody else.
That has two honest consequences. We cannot see content unless it is reported to us, and we cannot delete a copy from a device we do not control. What we can do is described in §4, and every screen in the app that offers to report or block says exactly what its effect is rather than implying more.
3. Reporting inside the app
Every post and every message in a topic can be reported without leaving the app: open the menu on the post or message and choose Report this post or Report this message. The same menus offer Report this person. Among the fixed categories are Sexual content and Violence or illegal activity. Every person can be blocked from the same menus, and in a private conversation with them.
What a report does, immediately and on the reporting device: the content is hidden, it is refused if it arrives again, and it is no longer passed on to anyone else. Blocking a person stops everything from them. If a community service is connected, the report is also sent to the queue of the people who run that service, under their rules.
You can also write to us directly. For anything concerning the safety of a child, use
zerotrustsoftwarebase@gmail.com
with “child safety” in the subject. Describe what you saw and where; do not attach or forward the material itself — possessing or sending it is illegal in most countries, and we do not need it to act.
4. What we do when we obtain actual knowledge of CSAM
- We act on it, and we do not delay. We hold no copies, so there is nothing to delete on our side; what we do instead is stop it spreading: we publish the content identifiers and the author identity on a signed safety list. Anyone can add such a list under Settings → Shared safety lists, and every copy of the app that uses it refuses to show, store or pass on that material and that person.
- We ask the operator of any community service involved to remove it, and we tell them what we know.
- We preserve what we received — the report, the identifiers, the time — and we do not tip off the person concerned.
- We report it to the authorities. In Germany that is the Bundeskriminalamt (BKA); where the law of another country applies, the competent authority there, and NCMEC’s CyberTipline where it is the appropriate route. We cooperate with lawful requests from law enforcement.
5. Compliance with child safety laws
We comply with the laws that apply to us, including the German Criminal Code (§ 184b StGB and related provisions), the EU Digital Services Act as far as it applies to a service of this shape, and any duty to report child sexual abuse material to the competent authorities. Where a law requires more of us than these standards, the law prevails.
6. Point of contact
A designated contact who is able to speak to these practices and to our compliance with them is reachable at zerotrustsoftwarebase@gmail.com. The contact’s name and further details are on file with Google Play.
7. Changes
If these standards change, the updated version appears at this address with a new date. They are referenced from the app’s privacy policy and from the store listing.
